| THE HONDA JAZZ - DESCRIPTION The Jazz is the new small car in the Honda Family and it is said that it's the most original small cars presented in the past years. Externally, the Jazz may be the size of a supermini car, but once inside new benchmark levels of packaging efficiency are immediately apparent. The originality of the design is the short nose bonnet and the centrally mounted fuel tank situated under the floor. This novel design idea offers the new small Honda more interior space than many larger cars in the market. As well as comfortably accommodating up to five people, Jazz offers unique interior architecture. The options are endless… The rear seats split asymmetrical and can be folded separately and disappear completely into the cavity provided in the floor, without even removing the headrests. The result is a completely flat floor (1.74cm length) which can easily fit an adult mountain bike. Also, the base of the rear seat can be lifted to a vertical position and attached to the seatback, resulting to a new, second luggage hold totally separated from the boot. The Jazz has emphatically sporty interior based around what Honda calls a "dynamic layered style" concept. The bold, open-line motif mixes light and dark shades of chic gray with metallic accenting throughout the cabin. The new Jazz is powered with a four-cylinder i-DSI engine (Dual and Sequential Ignition), which is powerful, compact and very economical. It is available with a 1.4-liter engine (83 PS) with torque levels of 119Nm at 2,800rpm; torque delivery is exceptional and ensures high levels of flexibility during everyday driving This new i-DSI, super efficient engine offers exceptional levels of fuel economy and the latest tests suggest that the fuel consumption is only 5.5 l/100km! It also conforms fully to the EU2005 emission regulations. When designing the Jazz, Honda's goal was to obtain the best results in the segment in terms of passive safety. A carefully designed body structure based on extensive computer and real life crash testing program means that the Jazz is expected to achieve the 4-stars rating in the EURO NCAP Tests as far as passenger protection is concerned and the 3-stars rating for the protection of pedestrians. |
